Marble is one of man’s favorite stones to decorate and adorn buildings with. Marble is created from limestone, which is a sedimentary rock resulting from seashells at the bottom of a long ago ocean floor. Unlike limestone, Marble is exposed to immense pressure from the earth. This heat and pressure creates a harder stone that is more durable, but still somewhat easy to work with.
Marble is available in many colors. From the ever popular Carrara Marbles from Italy to dark colors of marble such as Cipolino, which is a beautiful green marble color from Greece. It took the ancient people of Greece with their skilled engineering to bring marble on the world stage as a durable building stone and practical sculpting medium.
